What’s This About?

Firstly, HP have no intention of re-establishing LightScribe.com as a LightScribe support website.

However if you are interested in the LightScribe.com domain name you can contact ddna.com who are acting on HP’s behalf.

Implications For LightScribe Users

Now at first glance this may seem unimportent, and from a purley LightScribe functional sense it is.

However, that’s not the only consideration here.

Every time you open up the LightScribe System Software Control Panel go to the Services Tab you will see this:

 

 

All the Go buttons and obviously the lightscribe.com link go to… you guessed it, the redirect splash page.

So here is what is happening.

Everybody who has installed the LightScribe System Software and who want extra information on LightScribe, click on a button or the link and land on the splash page, and as you can guess, they are somewhat confused, to put it mildly. Instead of getting to a live working support site they see that.

PLEASE NOTE:

In addition to that, any live link on the web that still points to ANY page on LightScribe.com, and there must be 100s if not 1000s, will also take people to this redirect page as well.

 

The Good News

I have been in communication with DDNA and they more than happy to forward all the enquiries they get, that are LightScribe support related, to me.

That way anybody who needs help with LightScribe can still get it.

I won’t say this is an ideal solution but under the circumstances it’s better than folks just being left in the dark. Many of the emails do start with ‘what’s happening’ or “is LightScribe dead’ which is understandable because this is not the sort of page these folks expected to land on.

 

In Conclusion

I have written this post to alert you to the situation. However, you may have landed on that page and wondered what was going on yourself.

Also to inform the LightScribe community what is happening and NOT to use any of the links in any of the FREE LightScribe Software.
